Abductions from the United States

Responding to an International Parental Child Abduction

The Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs is prepared to assist you in returning your abducted child to the United States.  An Office of Children’s Issues Country Officer will discuss the options available and, if appropriate, open a case for your child or children.

Please learn about these five steps for responding to an international parental child abduction, and be in touch with the Office of Children’s Issues at askci@state.gov or 1-888-407-4747; 202-501-4444.  We will work with you each step of the way.
