  • The San Juan Passport Agency reopened to the public for U.S. passport services on August 17, 2015, at the Centro Gubernamental Minillas building in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

  • The U.S. Department of State mailed letters on June 9 to a limited number of U.S. passport customers whose personal information may have been compromised. The letter provides specific details regarding the breach of personal information, how to contact us for further assistance, and guidance on how to protect yourself from identity theft.

  • On Saturday, May 16, the Department is hosting a Passport Acceptance Day at the Washington Passport Agency from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This event will offer appointments (call 1-877-487-2778) and walk-in services for applicants using Form DS-11 (all first-time applicants, all minors, and applicants who are not eligible to use Form DS-82). Passport processing time is four to six weeks. Expedited processing, will call service, and same-day passport issuance will not be available.

  • Due to inclement weather, the following passport agencies are closed to the public today, Thursday, March 5, 2015: The Washington Passport Agency, the Special Issuance Agency (Washington, D.C.), the Arkansas Passport Center (Hot Springs, AR), the Dallas Passport Agency, and the Philadelphia Passport Agency. Any applicant with an appointment at one of these facilities that has not already been rescheduled should contact the National Passport Information Center to reschedule at 1-877-487-2778. We apologize for any inconvenience. This site will be updated as information regarding additional Passport Agency closings becomes available.

  • The U.S. Department of State’s Passport Services Directorate, via our contractor, The Logistics Management Institute (LMI) and their subcontractor, STR, is currently conducting the Passport Demand Forecasting Study, which is a voluntary nationwide study being carried out to estimate the overall demand for passport products.
