Apply for a Passport at the Washington Passport Agency on May 16

On Saturday, May 16, the Department is hosting a Passport Acceptance Day at the Washington Passport Agency from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This event will offer appointments (call 1-877-487-2778) and walk-in services for applicants using Form DS-11 (all first-time applicants, all minors, and applicants who are not eligible to use Form DS-82).   • Beginning Monday, April 13, 2015, the San Juan Passport Agency will be temporarily closed to the public due to renovations in the building. We apologize to U.S. passport customers for the temporary inconvenience. For first-time adult and minor applicants, passport acceptance facilities in Puerto Rico will continue to accept routine and expedited passport service applications. Qualified applicants wishing to renew their passports or add pages can apply conveniently through the mail. Routine processing time is 4-6 weeks door-to-door and expedited processing is 3 weeks. Applicants traveling within two weeks are advised to schedule an appointment with the Miami Passport Agency by calling 1-877-487-2778, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (se habla español). Applicants traveling within two weeks who are unable to travel to Miami should call the above number Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time to speak with a customer service representative for assistance.

  • The U.S. Department of State’s Passport Services Directorate, via our contractor, The Logistics Management Institute (LMI) and their subcontractor, STR, is currently conducting the Passport Demand Forecasting Study, which is a voluntary nationwide study being carried out to estimate the overall demand for passport products.
